Information: Prof. Dr. Bernt Schiele obtained a MSc in computer science from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and a DEA in computer science from the ENSIMAG in Grenoble, France, both in 1994. Also in 1994 he was visiting researcher at CMU, Pittsburgh, PA, USA. In 1997 he obtained his PhD from INP Grenoble, France.Between 1997 and 2000 he was postdoctoral associate and then visiting assistant professor at the MIT Media Laboratory, Cambridge, MA, USA. From 1999 until 2004 he has been Assistant Professor at the computer science department at ETH. Between 2004 and 2010 he was full professor at TU Darmstadt.Since 2010 he is Max-Planck-Director at the MPI Informatics in Saabrucken. He has over 160 journal and conference publications in perceptual computing, wearable and ubiquitous computing many of which are at major conferences such as UbiComp, ISWC, ICCV, ECCV, CVPR. He is associate editor at various journals such as IEEE Pattern Analyis and Machine Intelligence and International Journal on Computer Vision.
