Information: Dipl. Inf. Markus Klann is a research scientist and project manager at Fraunhofer FIT and heads
FIT’s Situated Computing Lab. His main scientific interest is in mobile IT-support for situated
knowledge- and skill-intensive activities, with a focus on HCI and human factors. He has a
particular interest in mobile IT support for emergency response which he has been studying since
2004. He developed a virtual and mixed-reality prototyping approach for ICT targeting difficult
contexts of use, resulting in the Experience Prototyping Platform (EX3P). He has been developing
the subject of “HCI for Emergencies” through several scientific venues: he co-founded the Mobile
Response symposium (www.mobile-response.de) and co-chaired workshops and tracks at Mobile
HCI 2007, CHI 2008 and ISCRAM 2008/09. He is also a member of several program committees,
including IFAWC, Group, ISCRAM, C&T.
