WearCom was found in July 2010 as a common platform to enhance scientific and industrial cooporation on wearable computing between China and Germany.

2 German and 1 Chinese universities took active part in its foundation:

• Embedded System Lab (ESL, lead by Prof. Paul Lukowicz), University of Passau
• Centre for Computing and Communication Technologies (TZI, lead by Prof. Micheal Lawo), University of Bremen
• Mobile Computing Center(lead by Prof. Dongyi Chen), University of Electronic Science and Technology of China

With support from Sino-German Center for Research Promotion, its first action is the "1st Sino-German Advanced Workshop on Wearable Computing", which will be hold in Chengdu, Aug. 25-28, 2010.
